Indian government asks farmers to consider proposal on farm laws, end protests

The ongoing farmers’ protests entered its 15th day on Thursday, a day after the farmers rejected Indian government's final proposal of amendments to the three farm laws and announced a bigger movement.  Addressing a press conference on Thursday,  Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said the government is ready to provide a written assurance to the farmers' union that the minimum supporting prices system of procurement which safeguards the farmers to a minimum profit for the harvest will not be affected and shall continue. Vietnam hosted the 7th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus via video conference on Thursday.  Sharing platform with his Chinese counterpart, India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in a veiled reference to China, called on members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and its dialogue partners to exercise self-restraint and avoid actions that complicate the situation.
