Description
Video info
While at one side Afghan security forces are being targeted on a daily basis, young school learners too have come under the radar of terrorists. Recently deadly explosions outside a girl’s school in Kabul killed several students. A car bomb and at least two other blasts detonated near the school gates just as the girls and young women were streaming out.The explosions targeted Afghanistan’s Hazaras who dominate the Dasht-e-Barchi neighbourhood which has repeatedly been targeted by the armed groups in recent years. The Taliban denied any involvement, though the Afghan government blamed the Taliban for the attack. Recently, New Delhi in UN Security Council stated that the only accountability for acts of terror and strong measures against states that support terrorism can strengthen the credibility of the global fight against the scourge. During a briefing in connection with the crimes committed by Islamic state, Deputy Permanent Representative - Political Coordinator R. Ravindra told the Security Council that the Islamic State is not just another regional terrorist outfit but a global syndicate with affiliated groups across the world. The former president of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed was in critical care after being severely wounded in a bomb blast outside his home. Along with Nasheed, who has now been flown out to Germany for treatment, three bodyguards and one British man were also injured. The explosion happened in the capital Male, just before a night-time curfew was due to go into effect as part of measures to contain coronavirus. In an encounter between the security forces and terrorists in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, three terrorists belonging to proscribed terror outfit  Lashkar-e-Taiba were neutralised after a six-hour gun battle. As per police records, all the killed terrorists were part of the groups involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on security forces and security establishments.
