Air quality in Indian capital remains 'severe' days after Diwali

India's national capital and its neighboring areas were blanketed by toxic air on Monday as pollution levels continued to remain in the severe category for a third consecutive day. Meanwhile, waterlogging following heavy rainfall hit normal life in Chennai city of India's southern Tamil Nadu state. The weather department has issued an orange alert in 14 districts of Tamil Nadu as rains are expected to continue till Tuesday.Indian Army General MM Naravane on Monday said that the army is undergoing rapid modernization and is increasingly looking at indigenous solutions to confront emerging security challenges and reduce dependence on foreign technologies. The remarks came as India has been boosting its military might along the Line of Actual Control amid an ongoing border row with China.Members of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, mainstream political party of the Mohajir community, held a protest outside the White House in the United States this past weekend against atrocities on Mohajirs by the Pakistani regime. The protesters highlighted discrimination and human rights violations by Islamabad against the community in the country and demanded the right of self-determination.
