Air quality in Indian capital New Delhi was at its poorest in a year on Thursday as the concentration of poisonous PM 2.5 particles rose to 14 times the WHO safe limit. Delhi Chief Minister said rising pollution was complicating efforts to tackle the increasing pace of coronavirus infections.A boat carrying more than 50 people capsized in Ganges River in India s Bihar state on Thursday, with several feared drowned. Some people were rescued by local divers with the help of boats, while team of State Disaster Response Force also reached the spot to take over the rescue operation, according to local media reports. Eyewitnesses said there were motor bikes and cattle on the boat that capsized near the river bank in the state s Bhagalpur district. Boat capsize cases are frequent in India s eastern state of Bihar where people put their lives at risk to travel in overcrowded boats. Such accidents occur due to the poor maintenance of the boats.Indian Army Chief General M M Naravane met his Nepalese counterpart General Purna Chandra Thapa on Thursday and discussed measures to further boost bilateral ties and enhance defence cooperation.
